Here is a status on WordCamp Miami 2018 after the news of Thursday’s bridge collapse on SW 8th St near FIU.

Friday’s workshops went well and people were able to access the university using the map and directions below. Fortunately on Saturday and Sunday there will be less traffic in the morning.
Here is a Google Map to the recommended entrance to the University. We had people successfully use Google navigation to get to campus.

FIU Update on Road Closings and Recommended Access Methods
The following was received from FIU:
Southwest 8th Street, from 107th Avenue to 117th Avenue is closed until further notice.
The eastbound exit from the Turnpike also is closed. Please use the Northwest 12th Street exit or the Southwest 40th Street exit. Please allow additional time for your commute.
Since the main entrance off of SW 8th St will be closed as well as the exit from the Turnpike eastbound to 8th St, exit the Turnpike at SW 40th Street (Bird Road) which is south of FIU.
From Florida’s Turnpike
Exit the turnpike at SW 40th Street and proceed to SW 117th Ave. Take SW 117th Ave North from 40th Street to SW 17th St. Turn right onto SW 17th Street to enter the FIU campus. Continue past the first stop sign and then you will see the big football stadium on your right. Turn left onto East Campus Circle (aka SW 113th Ave) at the stadium. This will take you to the Panther Parking Garage (PG-3) and P9 parking lot near the College of Business (CBC).
From the Palmetto Expressway
Exit SW 24th Street east until you reach SW 117th Street. Take SW 117th Ave North from 24th Street to SW 17th St. Turn right onto SW 17th Street to enter the FIU campus. Continue past the first stop sign and then you will see the big football stadium on your right. Turn left onto East Campus Circle (aka SW 113th Ave) at the stadium. This will take you to the Panther Parking Garage (PG-3) and P9 parking lot near the College of Business (CBC).
NOTE: There is an entrance to FIU off of SW 107th Avenue, however we are recommending to use SW 117th Avenue entrance since it is closer to the CBC venue on campus.
